S. Holt |
 Helen S. Holt,
affectionately known as “Big Mama”, was the only jewel born on September
9, 1928 in Miami, Florida to the late Ivory and Emma Singleton. She
completed her education in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, attending
Phyllis Wheatley and Booker T. Washington. She was taught the Word of God
by the late Brother L. J. Martin, accepted Christ, and was baptized over
50 years ago. Soon thereafter, Robert Holt found the love of his life,
Helen, and they were joined in holy matrimony on February 4, 1951. Out of
this blessed union, eight gems were born. As a servant of Christ, Helen supported her husband as he traveled around the state of Florida teaching the Word. They began their initial work at a small congregation in Fort Pierce for eleven years that has grown into a thriving ministry. After that, they began their work at the Brownsville Church of Christ. This ministry grew from a small dwelling to the blessed working congregation that resides their today. Helen served as the chair of the Sisters Committee for many years. She was a Bowser Woman for Southwestern Christian College, a member of the Brownsville church of Christ Calling and Willing Workers Committees. She served the king as a true worker for Him until her declining health limited her ability to serve as she wished. On the morning of December 15, 2007 at 2:00am, the Lord called his shining jewel that blessed many on Earth with her pearls of wisdom and smile of gold, to receive her mansion, robe, and crown. She leaves to celebrate her life and mourn her passing: her beloved husband and best friend, Robert L. Holt Sr.; her eight gems– Robert L. Holt Jr. (deceased), James L. Holt Sr., Samuel Holt (Sharon), Hester Holt-Henton (Leroy), Timothy F. Holt Sr. (Sherri), Evelina Holt-Nelson (Keith), Alfred Holt, and Dorothy Holt; twelve grandchildren– James Jr., LaWanda, Shawn, Sharard, LaCeila, Harrell, Howard, Precious, Timothy Jr., Baby Precious, Marcus, and Aaron; six great-grandchildren– Kierra, Sincere, Larod, Lauryn, Shawn, Lawrence III; special cousins in Gainesville, FL, nieces, nephews, in-laws, her Brownsville Church of Christ family, and many Christian friends. |
